By providing essential school supplies, The Cottages helps students head back to the classroom prepared, confident, and ready for a great start. How The Cottages Back-to-School Program Began
More than a decade ago, The Cottages Senior Living Owner and CEO, Mark Maxfield, recognized that while heading back to school should be an exciting time for children and families, the cost of school supplies can create added financial stress. Mark wanted to ease some of that burden for the team members who make The Cottages Assisted Living and Memory Care communities so special. He had a simple idea: find out what school supplies their children needed, purchase those items, and give each child the supplies they needed to start the school year prepared for success. From that idea, The Cottages Back-to-School Give Back program was born. More than a decade later, the program remains a meaningful tradition and a reflection of The Cottages Senior Living’s commitment to caring for not only our residents, but also the team members and families who are at the heart of our communities.
A Special Time to Connect with The Cottages Team Members and Families
The Back-to-School Give Back Program has become one of the most treasured annual events for The Cottages Senior Living Home Office team. This is an opportunity to connect with the team members and families who are such an important part of The Cottages Assisted Living and Memory Care communities. Each year, backpacks, binders, notebooks, pens, paper, and other classroom essentials fill the Home Office as team members bring their children to choose the supplies they need for the year ahead. Our Home Office team gets the special opportunity to meet the kids, help them pick out their favorite supplies, and share in their excitement about going back to school. These moments of laughter, conversation, and connection make the Back-to-School Give Back especially meaningful. It is a meaningful reflection of The Cottages Senior Living’s commitment to creating a culture where team members and their families feel valued, supported, and connected.
