April is a great month. With it comes another work anniversary for our CEO, Mark Maxfield. It is his 21st work anniversary with The Cottages Senior Living!
How Mark Maxfield’s Journey Began at The Cottages
Twenty-one years ago, Mark’s father Garold, called him up and asked him if he would like to start an assisted living home with him. Mark responded with, “What’s an assisted living?” Since then, Mark has learned so much and grown to love the assisted living and memory care long-term healthcare field. He understands fully what assisted living and memory care entails and has become a nationwide industry leader. He has served as the President of the Idaho HealthCare Association and is currently serving as the Vice Chair for the National Center for Assisted Living’s (NCAL’s) Board of Directors.
The first Cottages opened in Emmett, Idaho, and the organization quickly expanded to Weiser and Payette. Over the years, The Cottages would grow to ten locations. Mark remembers his car serving as his office and having to hold interviews at the local library until the first location was built. He would drive back and forth between the Emmett, Weiser, and Payette locations to help wherever he could. He has served in various roles throughout the years and is now the CEO and Owner.

He strongly believes in the power of creating a strong company culture and fostering an environment where the team members can thrive, grow, and be empowered. He spends a significant amount of time investing in leadership and employee appreciation programs that will assist the team members. He believes in building a personal relationship with his team and tries to connect with them as much as possible.
